Massive Cottonwood-On-Richmond Fire Harms Adjacent Businesses

The fire that broke out in a building under construction in Millcreek on Wednesday was horrendous and tragic.  We are so very grateful that no one was injured and for the UFA, UPD and city staff who worked in the awful heat to bring the fire under control.

The fire not only destroyed the Cottonwood on Richmond building that was under construction but seriously damaged 14 small businesses in the adjoining strip mall.  These small business are now facing a devastating loss of revenue after barely getting on their feet following COVID.

The city is working on plans to assist these local businesses, but we wanted to let you know that you also have an opportunity to help.  A GoFundMe page has been set up by a local resident to assist these businesses and their employees. If you can help out, click on the GoFundMe page here.

Please read carefully – before submitting your application!

Millcreek Business Council proudly hosts the Business of the Month award to connect our community with its leaders! We invite you to think of this application as less of a “sales pitch” for your products – and more of a legacy builder. If a statue was built in your honor, what would the plaque say?
