Millcreek Business Council and Promise Program Warm Winter Coat Drive Success! The Millcreek Business Council worked hard throughout the month of November to bring in winter clothing items to keep those most vulnerable in our community warm. 27 local Millcreek businesses, congregations, and public buildings hosted boxes and collected about 5,000 items of clothing including coats, new socks, winter boots, jeans, sweaters, hats, gloves, and more! Thank you to those wonderful locations who helped make this drive possible including Granite Credit Union, Aviva Wo/Man, Leone’s Tailoring and Dry Cleaning, The Sammy Center, M&M Insurance, Epic Fitness, Millcreek Library, OM Wellness, Eden Massage, Rekindled Tattoo, Millcreek City Hall, Millcreek Common, Millcreek Library, Millcreek Nutrition, Twisted Sugar, First Utah Bank, Millcreek Advanced Dental, Peak Day Spa, Churchill Junior High, Evergreen Framing Co. & Gallery, Congressional Kol Ami, Cyprus Credit Union, Rosecrest Elementary, Zions Bank East Millcreek Branch, Second Summit Hard Cider, and CorePower Yoga! We also wanted to recognize the Millcreek Promise Program for all of their hard work in helping us coordinate our donation locations. These locations will distribute these items to those most in need. Thank you to the following donation locations for giving these items back to the community including Dominguez Park, Granite Peaks, James E Moss Elementary, Evergreen Junior High, Bud Bailey, Asian Association, The Road Home, First Step Addiction Recovery Center, Cottonwood High School, Lumos Language School, and Children’s Service Society of Utah. Finally, thank you to all the donors who helped make this drive a huge success. Thank you, also, to the volunteers who helped us sort through the clothing items at our clothing drive sorting day. Mayor Jeff Silvestrini extends deep appreciation to the Millcreek community for your kindness during the drive, “I am very grateful for the generosity of Millcreek residents in contributing to the winter coat drive, sponsored by our Millcreek Business Council. The donations we have received will keep many people warm this winter that would otherwise be without protection.” We cannot thank you all enough for the strong community involvement we’ve had to help make this drive successful! We look forward to doing this drive again next November!

This very fun wreath event will raise funds to help offset tuition for children to attend The Sammy Center. The Sammy Center is a preschool that fosters the social emotional wellbeing of children ages 3 to 5. The event will be located in a local art studio in Millcreek called Vitalize. Everyone will be guided to create a beautiful holiday wreath while we enjoy the company of other community members and friends. They will have charcuterie trays, wine, soda and dessert.

Intensive Physical Therapy Institute Sub 4 SantaSome of our families have limited resources and treatment for their children can be expensive with lots of surprises and challenges and often requires more than they have. We want to support them this Christmas as inflation and rising costs stretch their resources even more. Saying that, we decided to do a Sub for Santa for some of our patients' families and would love as much help as we can find. We are also creating gift trees for our parents. Often, our parents are stretched and tired and don't have the time to care for themselves, so we are looking for donations that would support Mom's and Dad's self care. Gift cards, massages, pedicures, movie tickets, gym visits, bath care, personal care, etc. We will accept financial donations as well to purchase gifts. This kind of donation may be easier for some rather than a family. We also have a foundation (Enhance Life Foundation 401(c)(3)) that helps families who cannot pay for their therapy, equipment, orthotics, adaptive renovations to their homes etc. We would gladly accept donations for that as well. We do have donation receipts. Our last day open for the year will be Friday until Dec. 22, so I would say the last day for donations would need to be by Friday Dec. 15, which would give us a week to get them distributed. If you have questions about this Sub 4 Santa opportunity or would like to donate, please email Cathy Hawkins at iptinst@gmail.com!

Epic Fitness Wellness Corner - Overcoming Stress During the HolidaysBy: Ben Fogel I bet you can already feel the seasons changing and winter is now in full swing! So we are all getting ready for so many holiday celebrations crammed in such a short period of time! How do you keep your sanity during it all? With family commitments, work parties, and overly busy schedules to get ready for it all we want to help you simplify these next 7 weeks so you can keep your sanity and stay happy (and healthy) over the holidays! Here are 3 quick tips to own the overcome stress during the holidays. 1.) Schedule “Me” time! Yes, you heard that right! What would benefit you the most during the busiest time of year is to schedule “Me” time. The best way to do this is to pull out your calendar (I prefer one I can write on, the old fashioned way!) and mark on your calendar every commitment you already know about – every party, event, meeting, etc. that are non-negotiable and that you can’t miss. Once you have those all scheduled, now schedule your “Me” time. Now is not the time to skip workouts or just say “I am too busy and I am going to take the week off.” Instead, schedule this very important time just like you would a doctor’s or dentist appointment. Place it in your calendar and make sure you hold yourself accountable to it by either letting people know that are close to you (like your family) that you have appointments with yourself on these days and times. Or even better, stay accountable to your coaches here at Epic Fitness by scheduling your coaching appointments ahead of time and sticking to your plan.
