Millcreek Miracle - Tell Your Business's Story!Has your business been involved with the community and given back in some way? Have you sponsored an event that supports the community or supported a nonprofit organization in some way? Zions Bank who recently hosted the Lights On Event here in Millcreek! They brought in students from the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind to decorate their tree in their bank's lobby! They provided the students with art supplies, yummy refreshments including cookies and Capri Suns, and had the children visit with Milo the Millcreek Moose! The children loved the event and we thank Zions Bank for being involved with the community in this light-hearted, meaningful, and fun way. (Millcreek and Zions Bank received permission from all guardians of the students to post this photo to external communications.) The Millcreek Miracle wants to promote these stories to the community and encourage the community in return to shop local. It's wonderful to support a business who supports their community. Miracles happen in a community when people, businesses and causes come together to make a difference.

Epic Fitness Wellness Corner - Don't Set Goals, Raise Your Standards!By: Ben Fogel I was listening to a podcast recently with Ed Mylett where he talked about not always focusing on merely setting goals, but to raise the level of your standards. Put in other words, the point he was making was if you want to raise your success levels in your life you need to raise your standards. He went on to argue that the only thing that separates a successful person from a non-successful person is their standards. Think about that for a moment. I had to hit pause on the podcast right there and realize a few things: - In order to become the person I wanted to become, my standards needed to change.
- My ultimate goal then is to have my identity (who I want to become) match up with my standards.
- Ultimately, this might be something I chase for the rest of my life. As I catch up to a standard I will set a new one to chase. Then rinse and repeat…
Matthew McConoughey said it best in his 2014 Oscar winning speech: “My hero, that is who I want to chase. My hero is me in 10 years, and my hero is always 10 years away. I am never going to be able to attain that, and that’s fine with me because he keeps me with something to keep on chasing.” You see, standards are meant to be chased, attained, and chased again. I believe what McConoughey said that we are never going to reach or attain the “ultimate goal” of (fill in the blank) because in life, there is really never a finish line – there is no ceiling in our lives. We should all look to raise our standards first, then set goals based on the new standards we are living in our lives. So, don’t merely set goals – Set and raise your standards first
