MISSION:

We work together to create a healthier and more connected community through evidence-based strategic programs, resident engagement, and provider partnerships to lift all residents.

Strategic Priority #1: Youth Community Connection

Rationale for Selection:

Local SHARP data has shown that youth have low levels of neighborhood attachment, high risk for depressive symptoms, and favorable attitude toward antisocial behavior. Research shows that strong community connection is a large protective factor against poor mental health, substance abuse, and more health outcomes.

Strategies:

  • Providing support for youth to participate in positive, prosocial activities through a partnership with Spy Hop’s organization and afterschool programs to provide activities for youth in the Millcreek area.
  • Enhancing access that youth have to participate in activities provided by Spy Hop by partnering with afterschool programs to facilitate lessons taught by Spy Hop without youth having to go to the Spy Hop site.

Expected Change:

  • Decrease in youth social isolation
  • Increased youth prosocial skills
  • Decreased depression and anxiety among participating youth

Coalition Meetings: every 2nd Thursday of every month beginning at 9am
