Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the details of this project?
Answer:
The project involves the construction of a multi-use path on the west side of Wasatch Boulevard between 4500 South and 3680 South. The proposed width of the path is generally 10 feet. Upgrades to pedestrian ramps, shortened pedestrian crossings at minor intersections, and landscaping elements are also part of the project scope. Bike lanes will also be striped south of 4500 South to the boundary with Holladay City.

When is construction expected to begin?
Answer:
Construction is anticipated to start in summer 2025.

Will the project impact neighboring properties?
Answer:
No. This project will be constructed within the public right-of-way.

Will there be changes to the roadway?
Answer:
Minor striping changes will occur to allow for the addition of bicycle lanes south of 3900 South. Other minor changes to a concrete island and some adjoining side roads are planned due to spacing needs.

How will residents be notified about project updates?
Answer:
The project team will post regular updates to the Millcreek City website (Link), community council meetings, and through the city newsletter. Additionally, we will offer project updates via email. Sign up for email alerts by sending an email to wasatchtrail@millcreekut.gov

Can residents access detailed design information?
Answer:
While not all design files will be posted online, residents can reach out to the project team to request a meeting to review the design and discuss the project in detail.

What is the construction process?
Answer:
Crews mobilize and perform excavation where the new multi-use path will be located. Any utility lines that conflict with construction are moved, and then construction begins with placing pathway base materials, construction of retaining walls, and finishes with new pavement on the pathway. Areas south of 3900 South will see a pavement application called a “slurry seal”, followed by new lane stripes and other pathway markings.

What about utilities along Wasatch Blvd?
Answer:
We are actively coordinating with all utility companies along this corridor, including Enbridge. These are independent entities, and their construction schedules and timelines are managed solely by them. The city does not have jurisdiction over their operations or timelines.
